Roman Pfeffer ́s (*1972 in Vöcklabruck Austria) work - created in a wide range of media from graphic art, painting and sculpture to photography and video - repeatedly revolves around the issues and myths behind the production of art, focusing on real things that have practical or specific significance in the context of art.  These can be things of artist ́s daily work - like measuring tapes, sandpaper, spirit levels, chipboards or pedestals - or more general subjects, like language or money. In all his works a  ́ ́shift in reality ́ ́ takes place.
Pfeffer has studied at the Academy of Fine Arts Vienna (1996 to 2001) and the Kent Institute of Art and Design in Canterbury, England. He teaches and is a member of the directorial team of the TransArts class at the University of Applied Arts Vienna.
