ELA FIDALGO ABOU HER ART PRACTICE:
My work combines, above all, drawing, painting and embroidery. My universe is made up of images that I express through threads, fabrics, colors, acrylics, waxes, oils...
All my production is strongly linked to my stage in fashion, the stage in which I drew the images that we would produce in photographs.
Since I was a child, my family has characterized the embroidery technique, a technique that my grandmother Soledad taught me.
My work has a figurative tendency with certain childish, ingenious touches, where I surrender to the idea of this, a reality that affects the ingenuity of childish sensibility and is characterized by great simplicity in the forms, the use of very alive and the rejection of technical academicism.
I am in a period of constant learning where I experiment and discover new ways and tools to represent and express my perception, deepening the study of creativity and the world of ideas so closely today. Innumerable questions arise in me.
My obsession is to deepen, work, experiment, create, break, redo... Ela Fidalgo about her art
To go to my subconscious and shape all those questions that navigate me.
Create a language through transformative tools. In my latest works I use paint in a much more palpable way, always accompanied by the fabric and the colored threads, which in my case will be clean lines that intertwine between one and the other.
I work alternating techniques and material, it looks like a collage but it is not, I simply use the material that most attracts my attention, a primitive feeling of constant experimentation.
There is no closed concept behind each piece, they could only be representations of my predilections, my way of being, my questions, all open. I leave the interpretation in charge of each one.
